Crypto ETF issuance has remained active in the US during 2026. Around 50 crypto funds have launched or converted into ETFs so far, excluding single-stock products.
Not every new listing survives. About 22 crypto ETFs have either closed or announced plans to liquidate. That works out to roughly one closure for every two additions to the market.
October alone includes four notable wind-downs:
- Bitwise Trendwise Ethereum & Treasuries ETF (AETH)
- Bitwise Dogecoin ETF (BWOW)
- CoinShares Bitcoin and Ether ETF (BTF)
- CoinShares Altcoins ETF (DIME)
AETH is scheduled to liquidate on 13 October. BWOW is expected to stop trading on 14 October, while BTF and DIME are due to stop trading on 20 October.
Closures are a normal part of the ETF lifecycle. Issuers regularly review whether a fund has attracted enough assets and trading activity to remain viable. Still, the pace of crypto ETF closures is revealing. The market is expanding quickly, but it is also becoming more selective about which assets, structures and strategies attract lasting demand.
